  • Opaque darker garnet with some lightening at the edges. Nose of dark earthy cherry, voluminous high pitched floral notes, a bit of asphalt. Layers of deep-seated cherry, ringing dark red plum, leathery notes, and holiday cake spices on the palate. Freshening acidity and furrowed, textured tannin leading to long finish of earthy red and black fruit overlying dusty depth. Nicely done and very much alive.

  • Fully mature with barnyardy mushroom and olive notes. Still a dark color and with enough lively acidity to give it good balance. Tannins are firm but not obtrusive. Brambly cassis flavors with some licorice on the finish.

  • Mmmm!! Just a great bottle of aged Brunello. Thirty-minute decant. Complex aromas of tobacco, cough drop, black cherry, and roasted pepper. Was evolving minute-by-minute in the glass. Lots of dark red fruits in the mouth with a still-solid tannic structure that provided pops of brightness. Plenty of earthy minerality, too. Long, mouth-coating finish. A fine balance of soil, sun, and fruit. Probably won't improve much from here but should stay at this level for a little bit longer. Really excellent stuff.

  • Decanted for one hour. Dark opaque garnet hue. Nose a potpourri of dried cherry, earth, sharp plum, holiday spice, camphor, soaring floral notes. Layers of spicy cherry, deep-drilling sweet earth, leather, and a bit of smoky red plum on the satin-textured palate. Moderate acidity and resolved, fine-grained tannin. Long finish of faded red cherry, fine soil, and satisfying grip. Enduring Brunello. Lovely.
