Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 89 points

  • 13.5% alc. - The 88, 89, 90, 91, all were 12.5% alc. This was the first year that the alc. ticked up to 13.5%. Interestingly enough the 93 was also at 13.5%. I am curious if they began picking later or the weather was just warmer. The wine had some bacon and earth notes with a rustic nose. Much more gamey with darker black fruit than some of the earlier vintages. Long lasting tannin finish with a tiny herbal note. Delicious and ready to go the distance. Parker states in his note, "Tasters will have untold joy comparing it with Ponzi's 1991, 1990, 1989, and 1988 Reserves. and you know what? WE DID!!!
