Pulled this one out of the pile on the basis that a 10-year-old SA shiraz is going to be v-e-r-y ready to drink. And goodness, didn't we do well?
Bright garnet in colour, with very little sediment when decanted. Explosive nose: oak, spice, expensive leather upholstery, cranberries and bitter oranges. Lovely balanced structure: soft tannins, just enough to keep the rich ripe fruit reined in. Hints of spice and pepper, backed with oak and vanilla, and a long finish of cherries and pudding spice. A powerful wine: the label says 14.5% ABV, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was even higher. Perfect for drinking now, but it will happily cling on for a couple of years.

Big nose and bold flavors. A little one dimensional, but a lovely wine. This one has years to go. I think it will evolve into a more complex wine. Sorry that I just have one more bottle of it.

Tons of fruit. WS said to drink by 2014. Waaay early, imo. Very shiraz, but clearly not from Australia. Dark fruit on the nose and palate, but misses the dark top that wines from Oz can have. A slight diesel after-taste knocked it down a point or two, but a nice, long finish.

Frutas secas como ameixa e morango. Corpo intenso com notas de baunilha, chocolate e madeira.

Sour minimal fruit. Definite graphite. Don't see the WS 92.
