Deliciously powerful wine, one of my favorites !! I agree with my tasting note of almost 4 months ago. Composite cork, easily removed after over a decade in the bottle. Consumed over two days. This Pinot Noir is an age worthy wine and has more years of life remaining. Fortunately, I still have two more bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar to revisit in the next year or so. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort from Greg Brewer.

In a great spot, this wine is tasting extremely good right now !! The composite cork was perfect after over a decade in the bottle. I consumed this balanced Pinot Noir over two days. Deep ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate, cherry, and caramel. Flavors of cranberry, black cherry cola, rhubarb, savory mushrooms, hoisin, and spice with a long finish. Popped and poured, this wine really benefited from gentle oxygen since it was much more soft & integrated on day two. Great fruit with firm acidity made into a very balanced Pinot Noir from the Carrie's Block on the estate Vineyard in the Santa Rita Hill appellation of Santa Barbara County. Carrie's block (now called Block M) sits atop a sun exposed and wind-swept mesa on the west side of the estate above several feet of botella clay soil that is planted to Dijonnaise clones 114 and 115 two thirds were fermented whole cluster. This Pinot Noir is an age worthy wine and has more years of life remaining. Fortunately, I still have three more bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar to revisit in the next year or so. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort from Greg Brewer.

From a 3.0L. Decanted an hour. This was charming. Ripe fruit, some stems giving it nice earth and complexity. Elegant finish. Fully mature and open, but seems like it will hold for a bit in this format. A-

Block M (aka Carrie's) has always been a personal favorite from Melville, but to be cliché, patience really is a virtue with this wine. Popped this '09 tonight, and it is really drinking quite well now! The color is fantastic; the nose features a bouquet of ripe, red fruit; and the palate is a heavenly blend of cherries and raspberries, with a touch of baking spices. Tannins were still lingering, but were a bit polished, and acidity has toned down. Very well balanced. Not sure who tapped this wine out in 2015? It easily has some good years ahead!

Perhaps more ripe than I was hoping with a hint of heat at the end.
