Odds & Ends - Whites: SRP: $12. Restrained nose of ripe white peaches, cantaloupe, and fresh flowers. Balanced and lively on the palate with mouth-watering acidity.

I discovered Torrontes some years ago on a trip to Argentina, before it became the 'white malbec' of Argentina. I quickly fell out of love with much of what was being imported to US. It can be a wonderful white wine, it can also be as overly floral and flabby as bad CA Viognier.
For $10 this is a decent representation.
Pale yellow, clear color. Nose thankfully isn't a flower pot of geraniums, as some can be. It exhibits white peach, honeysuckle, subtle tropical notes. Its a bit simplistic on the palate, but for the price one can't complain. White peach front palate, green apple mid, a tad bitter (not bad) on finish. Fair acidity. decent texture, and finish.
A cross between non CA chardonnay, gewurtz.
13.5 alc

A rather fascinating wine and I'm a first timer as far as Torrontes is concerned. Fruit salad with a ripe palate but there's a wonderful lick of hardning bitter fruits and aniseed with really make the wine standout. Plenty of oil and weight in the palate. The wine really seems to strike some middle ground between gewurtz and verdelho. Great summer drinking with not too much thinking.
