  • Clear developed and tertiary notes of ash, ashtray with some smoke and ripe red fruits. Palate sadly has unwrapped to reveal hot rubber, charcoal with that bipolar sweet and savoury feel. Heat on the back palate. Clearly seen better days but was fun to try it out at 19 years old. 80/100

  • This is still not tired and has given away most of its "oversmokey" aspects. In a wonderful spot. This is unfortunately my last bottle.

Assez long. Superbe.

  • I admit I love HR, as it lead me onto the right track - to Burgundy. the 2001 indeed is a bit of an "odd duck" (but an elegant one) as mentioned previously. I have not seen such a smokey nose in any PN before. Interestingly, it didn't blew off with decanting or time (luckily I matched this with dark meat from the grill). this wine is very dark, highly structured and gracefully condensed without being fat (like examples from Chile/Argentina), also, it shows very few signs of maturation, even the tannins appear mucular enough to grant (at least) 5 more years. long and stable finish (18 Caudalie). glad that I have one bottle left.
