  • Can't tell if it needed a touch of air or I just got tired and it softened out as a result of my clouded mind. It's on the downturn, but some green notes, with cherry and waning structure remain. Its actually pretty nice for the price even at its worst showing this evening, so don't knock this too hard if you see it, but I wouldn't pick up a case. It did pair really well with pasta and sausage this evening though, due to the bright acidity and green/fruit notes.

  • The Wine Merchant (Findlay, OH): Vegetal medicinal nose. Medium tannins, and acidity, big body. Odd. Nutmeg and red fruit. Not over the hill, but at peak. $11

  • For $10 this was a great wine. Simple and seriously jammy. Heavy blackberry, blueberry, cherry with pronounced cassis. Thick body and quite concentrated. Decent length for the finish. Not much spice or complexity.

Smooth tannins that are a little thin, and a with only trace of zing from the fading acidity, this one doesnt have much backbone for long.
I would drink this now, it's on the borderline of being overripe--the tannins and acidity are barely holding up the massive fruits, and in a short time this is going to me one hugely flabby, jammy mess.

A fairly one dimensional California fruit bomb that gives little sense of terrior; but it drinks very well for the price. Not one for the cellar.
