I feel there is some more potential for aging here. Definitely for me this is a "With Food Wine", Nicely crafted. 13% ABV

  • Dinner at William and Gina's (William & Gina's): Certainly well-made, but this felt just a bit soulless. Everything correct, but lacking a certain je nais sais quois. The nose was more NSG than Chambolle I thought, with notes of earth and meat and sous bois with lots of iron and mineral alongside more youthful aromas of dark cherries and higher-toned raspberries with a dusting of vanilla bean at the sides. Same thing on the palate. This was very firm, even a touch rustic for a Chambolle, with fine, but firm tannins and bright acidity giving some grip to the wine’s otherwise pure flavours of red cherries and berries lined with iron filings. All in all, well-made, but somehow still quite monolithic and rather uninteresting. It is clean, fresh and lively though, with good depth and decent balance and should age nicely over the next decade or so.
