(Johannishof Klaus Riesling Spatlese) Not a great vintage by any stretch of the imagination but as I delve more into the world of German Riesling vintage mean less and less. Nose of petrol, confectionary sugar, kaffir lime, green tea, tree bark, and an airy minerality. Palate has luscious fruit, elegant texture and great acidity. Good concentration and a lemony finish. Very persistent and even youthens up on the palate. Wonderful semi-mature Riesling.

Dug this baby out from deep in the cellar and had with a spicy burrito last nite. There's petrol aromas that hit you upon opening. Lots of minerality, still good acidity and freshness, some apple fruit but minimal as to be expected on a wine of this age. Kind of a demi sec feel to this wine. Decent finish. Still enjoyable.

Steven Plotnicki in Queens; 12/6/2005-12/7/2005 (the counts manor): petrol and mineral on the nose, nice acidity and finish. very light (and light color as well) apples and some pear. this lacks fruit but is still an excellnt refreshing riesling. a kabinet by modern standarts i am sure :) kidding
