  • Pnp. Drank over a few hours. Opened very, very licorice /fennel. Dense and dark. Smooth. Some rough edges at first but smoothed out with air.

It continued to evolve as long as we drank it. Massive but in a good place. No rush but it's enjoyable now. Wish I had more to watch the evolution.

  • Deep garnet color. Lovely multifaceted developed nose, with notes of dried flowers and new leather and clove spice, as well as some smoke and charred meat and a dash of sweet cinnamon. On the palate, it’s medium bodied, velvety smooth, with beautiful melting tannin structure. Great intensity of flavor, with still some black cherry fruit left, but layered with all the notes from the nose and some additional herbal characteristics besides—black tea and bay leaf. The finish is long and sappy, and after several sips the tannin builds to be quite assertive, but not overly bitter.

This is fantastic, and I would guess just now entering maturity with some development still to go judging from the structure and intensity. And then I’d think it will keep going strong for quite some time after that.

  • Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of deep ruby in colour, with garnet rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity aromas of red fruit of ripe cherries, plum and redcurrant, floral notes of violet, maturity notes of tobacco, mineral notes of tar, animal notes of meaty, pungent spice of black pepper. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium (+) acidity, the wine has medium (+) tannin of ripe and velvety texture, medium alcohol and medium (+) body, and medium (+) intensity flavors of red fruit of dark cherries and plum, oak notes of cedar, pungent spice of black pepper, animal notes of leather. The wine has a medium (-) finish.
Conclusion: Good quality Taurasi with a nice intense nose showing good complexity, the wine has a robust palate with good acidity and tannin, on top of concentrated flavors, but the finish was a bit weak. It is ready to drink now and not meant for further ageing.

  • much improved and the tart finish at younger age is now much smoother and fruitier. I don't think this wine is sold for +10 years of keeping so i am surprised by its development. Had i known i would have bought more and kept it in cellar. Now it is a $40 wine....
