(Alma Rosa Pinot Noir Clone 667 La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills) Visionary winemaker and proprietor Richard Sanford planted two Santa Barbara vineyards in the 1980s that, along with La Encantada (planted in 2000), would become the first 100% California Certified Organic Farmers vineyards in the county. The ’06 La Encantada stands out as a Pinot Noir of gorgeous, multifaceted black- and blueberry-tart perfumes with dark-forest, underbrush, and humus undertones. A dense, broad-yet-svelte mouthfeel is held together by sturdy tannin and fleshed out by luscious, almost-sweet floral and crushed-berry flavors. Hot Picks
