  • I have now tasted two vintages in a row of this wine, and took my tasting notes of this one without looking at the old notes or even remembering what I said about it. Two things stood out when comparing notes... First of all this vintage is clearly superior to the 2005. It's just put together better with better balance. The other thing that was fun to see - was that I used "nutmeg" for the nose on both vintages. And that's not typically a common observation for me. So clearly these vines pump out the Nutmeg essence with consistency! The nose was a little tight, but released itself with a little cupping of my warm hands around the glass. I got the characteristic Nutmeg, plus it really reminded me of Egg Nog. Light bodied in the mouth with banana creme pie and toasted oak flavors. As it finishes a nice biting spice fades in and then leaves you with some nice mouthwatering acids. I'm not jumping up and down about this wine, but at $18 it offers very good QPR.
