Smells a bit of plums on the nose. Taste has some lees, brine, and bitter lemon. Interesting mouthfeel. Not much aftertaste. It's fine, but perhaps not my personal style.

Blind Champagne Tasting--Bring A Bottle That Teaches Us Something: I'm calling this NV for purposes of my note as there is 20% reserve wine here, although the base is 2019. I believe this was the Pinot Meunier cuvee with a tiny % of Pinot Noir blended in. No dosage. Enjoyed the texture/fruit mix, along with a lightly prickly edge. Mint, cran/raspberry.

Florals on a pillowy nose. Harder and more stony on the palate. Chalky and fresh with notes of peach and herbs. This still gets a nice focused expression of Pinot Meunier you don't see often but I thought it was better served when they made it as an extra brut.

There is a nice yeasty qualities that help elevate this beyond the austere expressions of many no dose wines. Raw white grape and not quite ripe apple expressions. This is a base 2019 bottling and it became quite instructive. People in the know have said there can be a marked greenness to the Champagnes from 2019. I let my first glass of this sit for a few minutes and got a green, slightly vegetal character on the nose quite clearly. It doesn't overwhelm the wine but if you take a sniff without swirling its unmistakable. The acidity is generous under a nice chalky character but the fruit expression just isn't generous enough to lift it over the negatives of the vintage. Interesting that they bolstered this with 6% Pinot Noir. I've liked this bottle in its extra brut form and have missed it in the SoCal market. I hope it makes a return behind better vintages.
