  • The nose on this darker gold-colored starts off with oxidized notes, rich oak, brioche, and nice green apple, with pineapple, and pear in the background. The mouth starts off reduced and a bit oxidized, but with time that recedes to show a full mouth, rich and mouth coating, almost glycerol, with, melon, freshly baked brioche, creme bruelle, heavy toast/char, all wrapped in an envelope of toasty oak, sea salt and bracing acidity. The finish is long with cloves, spice, baked apple, fig, crazy butterscotch, pear/apple baked pie, and yeast that lingers.

This is a wine that should be consumed soon, I agree with Elie on this one, Odem Chard does not get better with age! Drink them young and the fruit is more vibrant and alive. With age comes the brulee and butterscotch - if that is your thing drink later on.

  • I know Rogov and others give the Odem Chardonnay long drinking windows, but personally, I like this wine far better when it's very young (unlike the Katzrin Chardonnay, which needs a good few years to allow the oak to settle down and continues improving 5-7 years past vintage). The wine is throwing sediment and the alcohol has become slightly hotter with age. Nevertheless, it has very appealing notes of honeydew, peaches, with a slightly honeyed nose with notes of hay. Of course there's the pears and distinct smokiness on the mid-palate. The 2010 vintage is now out and I look forward to trying it shortly.

  • "Revolutons Meet" - 2011 (Wine Road Tel-Aviv): quite disappointing in aroma and flavors vs older vintages of this wine which I use to like

  • Grilled pineapple and honeysuckle on the nose with restrained vanilla and apple notes on the palate. A suprising bit of minerality and acid - with a great mouthfeel.. Kind of a combination of california and chablis styles..
