"Pairs with Sadness" (Chicago, IL): A better showing of this than last week -- this is a bit more opulent and rounded, with nice concentration and depth here. I like the acidity and brightness coupled with mature notes here. All that said, how much of this is bottle variation versus palate variation? I'm willing to bet it's mostly the latter.

"There's a lot of fish at Montrose Harbor" (Chicago, IL): A fine showing of this; a bit non-descript and creamy, but it does tick the chardonnay boxes. Starting to show some nascent hints of maturity as well, which is no bad thing of course.

A good but not great showing, particularly compared to the Cristal tasted side by side. Perhaps a bit too steely and missing some fruit richness tonight.

Nebbiolos, white truffles, Volume VIII (Chicago, IL): Not a great showing of this tonight -- just didn't really seem to catch its stride; it was a bit too astringent and felt a bit ungainly and angular. Slightly unpleasant green note on the finish that was unexpected.

Slightly higher dosage helps. Slightly creamy. But mire supple, approachable.
