  • The wine was medium garnet in colour and offered ripe berries, cherry, red fruit, sulphur and forest aromas on the stinky nose. On the firm palate, the light-bodied wine showed mixed berries, cherry, some iodine, some sulphur and spices, with medium-level acidity and average length. The tannin was still present and the wine was a little closed on day one. It improved with aeration, opened up further over night and became broad and fruity on day two. It did not pair well with food and I preferred the 2009 Beauregard, this 2009 Gravières left me disappointed. Needs some time. Hold for 5+ years. 86(?) for now.

Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about 2 hours.

Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Subtle and nimble nose of rose petals, berries and a hint of camphor. Flavors of berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink with air or hold. I'd hold.
