Classically 2002 cote de nuits pleasures of floral and red fruited bouquet, sweet cherry palate and sous bois... finishes with a tart and mineral exclamation. There is an element of bitter grapeseed and rustic animale some burg drinkers enjoy but for me, it detracts, which is I knocked it down from a 95, which is my mark of outstanding beverage. Much more enjoyable than H Lignier's Chambolle 1er les Baudes fyi.

Gorgeous, gorgeous wine. Pulled the cork at 5:00 and poured a small taste, left in the bottle and decanted off sediment right before serving at 7:30. Immediately stunning on the nose, bright red strawberries and cherries, and also savory mineral and earth aromas. The wine is a great combination of delicacy and elegance, and also vibrancy and power of aroma and flavor. It’s the complete package on the palate - silk in texture, articulate in flavor, balanced, fresh and bright, deep and intense. A wow wine, one that quieted the room for a minute as we had our noses in the glass.

A most enjoyable wine lunch (Eddie V's Prime Seafood McLean Virginia): Thank you Amy Ray for this fabulous wine! Really a runner up for wine of the lunch... You will see why another red outpaced this one. But what a sheer pleasure to drink this Lignier: pure and bright and poised. Love the burgeoning tertiary notes, all fresh, and the gorgeous finish. Not much more to say than enjoy it (very) much if you have it.

Had mixed success with some older bottles of lignier so pleased to say this one is in the zone!! Bright and clean in appearance.
Lots of licorice on the nose. Dark fruits on the palate. A touch of wild strawberry. Still a bit of tannin/structure so this should age for a while yet.
Overall a really enjoyable bottle.
