  • Deep dark ruby. Rather intense fruit with big, full mouth feel. Tannins still present but overwhelmed by fruit. Structure to age further. Needed 1 hour decant to begin to hit its stride, but better as it developed with further air. Didn't have the pretty dried violets of some older-style Barolos, but impressive nonetheless.

  • Reaching its peak. Very nice balance with still healthy tannins without being overpowering. Delicious!

  • Note sure I've ever drank a 14yr old wine in such primary condition. Ripe powerful nose of steely fruits, crushed ants, aniseed and some varnish. Similar to taste but not at all tannic. Not really any fur at all! Has some way to and I wouldn't revisit for another 5yrs.

  • Deep, almost opaque color. Distinct nose with dark fruit and tar. With time additional aromas evolve: chocolate and roses. Full-bodied with puckering tannins and dark aromas. I love it now but it is undoubtedly a tough wine. There is however a lot of fruit in here and it will improve further over the next three to five years.
