Deep, dark prune-purple color. Barrel wood and dark red/black fruit notes on the nose, translating onto the palate. 24 hours in an open bottle, 2 hours in a decanter prior to serving and it was still fairly tight. Tannins are about 25% integrated and have a muddy quality. Plush mouthfeel. Seems to work better with food than by itself. Flavors favor wood and dark fruit notes. While we enjoyed it quite a bit, the overall impression is of a wine that doesn't have a clear intention of what it wants to be.

Very nice. Smooth, plush, dark fruit. A pleasant quaff, but not real complex. It pours black as India Ink. I gave it two hours of air based on comments from a couple years back (thank you)...and I stood it up overnight (again, thank you CT members!) Drink now or hold, I don't believe it is going to change much. All in all, it was very enjoyable though not necessarily memorable.
UPDATE: 2/8&11/15 (on nitrogen winekeeper) I should have adhered more closely to the advice from "LUNDMC" on day 1. I decanted for 5 hours on these two days and the wine was brighter and smoother. Really fantastic. Initial rating of 89, but subsequent tastings kick it up to 91.

Decanted for 5 hours before drinking with Beef tenderloin. Gorgeous clinging purple color. Wood accented the dark fruits, but the real standout was the texture - opulent mouthfeel, thick and tasty.

really liked this one....should've stood up overnight and decanted though because by the end of the bottle the sediment was very noticeable. This one really pushes the limits but doesn't cross over, inky, indigo appearance, ripe dark fruit aroma, and a very velvety, almost buttery like flavor on the palatte. Given it's name and the aromas I expected a super extracted high alcohol fruit bomb, but the Tannin and alcohol held back nicely for a very long and mellow finish. Can't wait to see how this one keeps evolving, but the presence of sediment after only 4 years makes me wonder how much life this one really has left.

Fabulous accompaniment to NY Strips and a 4 pound lobster for NYE! But at $85, probably not Fleury's best QPR. Drank very nicely after 2 hours in the decanter.
