Very open, medium intensity aromas of earth, damp black loam forest floor, barnyard, wild herbs, mossy damp rocks; rich, medium(+) intense body, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins, rustic, dusty, sandy, on mid-palate; flavors of very ripe dark blue plum, licorice, ripe black raspberries, black cherry liqueur, woody bramble and leaves. A touch of heat on the finish. Complex, weighty, chalky finish ... medium length. Still plenty of fruit, but the secondary and tertiary flavors (like the old polished mahogany furniture in an old library) are kicking in. Loving it ... fruit may not last but still fun!

Nose shows typical herb-flecked red fruit and earth along with underbrush. Flavors of Tulare cherries, black raspberry, licorice, and herbs are engaging and lively thanks to sufficient acidity. Comes up a bit short on the finish and is slightly drying.
Great wine nonetheless that is in the peak drinking window and should hold for a couple more years.

Last tried a little over five years ago. This bottle is more open and not a bit hard edged. Nose of attic and plenty of Southern Rhone herbs. Black fruits are fresh with ample acidity. Ready to drink now and for at least a few more years.
