  • 14.5% alcohol. Car, S, G, with some of the Carignan planted in 1904. Superb cork, long and free of defect. Dark colour with minimal thinning at the edge of the rim, where some turbidity shows up.
The nose is generous and dark fruited with violet and liquorice added; a touch of blueberry. The mouth is similarly satisfying in a broad shouldered style, but with no lack of acidity; plenty of substance here, and no lack of subtlety either. Pretty good grip too, indeed there are bitter notes at times, but they do not detract from the experience.
A marvellous winter wine, and a superb match for fillet steak and chips; the wine neither fights with the food nor is overwhelmed by it.
This bottle is in perfect condition. An outstanding success in this often overlooked region.

  • 14.5% alcohol. S, Car , G in diminishing proportions, as far as I can make out. The cork is above average in length and absolutely immaculate in that the staining does not penetrate at all, nearly unbelievable; very minor tartrate deposits. Dark colour with some thinning at the edge of the rim.
Very good harmonious nose with liquorice and violets. The mouth is ample but not overweight with an excellent balance and good mouthfeel. Possibly a slight deficit of acidity in the finish, but nothing soapy.
Just the ticket with Parmentier of duck confit with assorted veg.
Perfect to drink now and unlikely to improve much, but there is no major rush.

  • 14.5% alcohol. Long cork with no wine penetration. The colour is dark with no sign of ageing. Served slightly cool as a result of a last minute change of plan.
The nose is vivid in a dark-fruited way, a pleasant mixture of fresh and cooked. The mouth is similar with excellent acidity holding the rich brew together; very smooth, but with good grip, and the alcohol does not protrude. A very good winter wine, not overdone in any way.
Very well made, and a repeat purchase.

  • 14.5% alcohol. Carignan, S, G in unspecified proportions; some of the C is from 100 years old vines, I am told. Excellent long cork with no wine penetration. The colour is deep with no sign of ageing and just a hint of thinning at the edge of the rim.
The nose is rich with dark berries and liquorice (the initial powdery aspect dissipates over time); nothing cooked or overripe, but lush nevertheless. The mouth is savoury and sappy with excellent acidity in the finish and vg mouthfeel; the hefty alcohol does not protrude.
Very successful, and a repeat purchase. Hats off to the Burgundy-Minervois alliance!

  • A touch of cool rock/damp earth, muted spice and dark Autumn fruit. Fleshy, quite broad and dense with a touch of alcohol joining plummy fruit on the finish.
