Quite nice. Got this a few years ago, and keep forgetting about it. Maybe that was a good thing. Changed pretty radically over time. Started out as red fruit dominant on the nose, and this changed to black fruit dominant. As it was open, it got a lot more earth and mushroom. Taste changed in a similar manner. Quite nice with good fruit, earthy/mushroom components, some light herbal tastes, with good minerality. medium body, solid acidity, and still has some good tannic structure. Wish I could find more of this.

I bought this wine a few years ago at a wine and cheese tasting and put it away in my basement for a "special occasion." The cork cracked a bit when opening, which made me concerned that it might be oxidized, but there was no seepage or penetration of the cork that I could see. I decanted it for about an hour, and then shared it with a couple of friends who, like me, enjoy nebbiolo. The color was darker than a typical Italian nebbiolo, but the nose was right on. Dark fruit, tar, and leather, and even an earthy, herbaceous note. This wine really opened up in the glass. There is a nice tannic backbone that complements the dark fruit. I was worried that this wine might be past its prime, but to me it drank beautifully. I would say there are still a number of years of life left in this one, due to the still strong concentration of fruit and tannins. It's just a shame that I only had one bottle and that I can't seem to find any more of it anywhere! Overall an excellent wine.

Vintage Select Industry Tasting (Vintage Select Warehouse, Houston, TX): Nice nose, violets, leather, red fruit, tar. On the palate, leather, strawberry, red raspberry, orange peel, tar. Nice tannic finish with lots of juicy acidity, lots of life left in this one. Very good.
