Found a couple bottles of this in my cellar and decided to try one at local Italian BYOB. Didn't expect much and was pleasantly surprised. Light cherry red in color. Pleasant mostly cherry nose. Palate was balanced and soft consisting of sweet and sour cherry with some leather and a tad of licorice. Nice with pasta with a sauce of roasted eggplant, peppers, onion and fresh tomatoes. Very enjoyable.

Monthly Tasting Group EEE #015; California (@ BD): In the bouquet ripe red forest fruits, some sweetness and perfume. On the palate cherry candy stick, licorice, roses, ok acidity and some bitterness. Hardly any tannin. Ok and clean wine.

Would have thought this was Pinot Noir blind. Very light, transparent color and body. Nose of red berries and violets, and zesty on the palate. But this is pretty flat after the attack--after the very first taste of each sip you're just kind of waiting for it to go down. And there's certainly no complexity to speak of. A thoughtless glugger, and priced like one.

Agree with j3w on this one. Beaujolais nouveau all the way. I much prefer this to the French Beaujolais nouveau at the same price point ($15). Give it an hour before drinking. Don't pop and pour, yuck!
