Dark, ripe berry fruit, cherries, earth, forest notes, spices. Powerful, dense, really minerally and spicy on the palate. Great texture with fine tannic grip, fine fruit, nice sweetness, punchy with great length. Well balanced, very impressive. No rush drinking this. 93-94

Very, very dark, opaque. rich looking and brick red. A slight nose of smoked meat. Taste of dark red fruit with a strong overtone of leather. Well aged and at its peak. As with the first bottle, I was not overwhelmed with this wine compared to Syrah from other parts of the world. Average length and smooth tannins. Not the optimum conditions to seriously tase this wine. Seemed over the hill did not taste as well as the first try with Bill in 2008.
NOTES ON THE TASTING WITH BILL IRELAND Dark purple red all the way to the rim lovely deep, opened up over several hours..syrah ID,, lots of fruit. dark berry blackberries, spice like clove or nutmeg, a hint of smoke, not as much as Rhone, complex juicy, jammy, a hint of bitterness on the extended finish which developed later not in the first taste tart acidity, lots of still harsh tanins, let this wine lie down for 4 more years or so with a lots of air, you get the syrah taste, high toned, very leathery, also the taste of smoked meat...still bitter on the finish, fine wine, young, rich, not completely in balance, enjoyed with thin slice of fillet mignon.

Decanted in am threw fine sediment, a good sign, and smelled and tasted great. Rebottled and at Michael's Genuine it lost its Cote rotie style, and became pondering. High hopes were crushed.
