  • Yum. Went very well with lamb leg. In a great spot. Plenty of earth but still some fruit remaining.

  • On pop and pour, the aroma is largely leathery with some underlying blackberry or plum. Flavours are tight berry with loads of tea and spice, great acidity, tannins are there but largely resolved. So far a great bottle, deep and brooding.

With half an hour of air or so there is a bit more fruit coming out - dark profile. The tannin is also making itself felt.

Another hour later it's gotten seemingly lighter. The flavour profile hasn't really changed but the weight has. Great wine, plenty of time left but drinking well now.

  • Purple core, lightening at the edges. Wild game, black fruits, herbs, and a bit of menthol on the nose. Smoked meats, leather, menthol, black fruits on the palate. Ample acidity, especially for a Cali syrah. The fruit shows great precision and focus, that is very well framed by the tannins, which have softened with age and integrated very well. The age has definitely added an element of complexity. Very good wine indeed.
