  • Pop and pour ... It's been about six months since we last sampled this one. Some of the jamminess has faded. A little harsh and disjointed at first, it came together better in the glass as the evening wore on and the harshness left. Still has decent structure, but probably not going to improve. Not great, but a decent daily drinker, with some interesting elements (not just flat or sweet juice). Despite some flaws, at the sub-$15 price point, this one definitely over-performs.

  • Took a while to open up. Good idea to decant beforehand

  • I opened this bottle the first week of 2012. My first reaction was to its color. It was a very dark plum color. Almost black like ravens hair. It took a bit to open up in my glass but showed some fruit and spice notes on the nose. The wine was still very tannic. After the first glass I worried I would have to brush my teeth to get the stain off of them. The second day the tannins had worked themselves out and didn't show the grip that made it more difficult to drink the first day. Echoing the comments from other posters, this is a tremendous value. Considering Owen Roe is the producer I also think you can place some trust in this wine in the future. Regardless, I would definitely say to decant this wine (unless you love very firm tannins) and that it will drink well through this year (2012) and into 2013 as well.

  • Full-bodied Syrah, easy to drink, black cherry on the palate. Definitely a great value for the money. Will buy again.

(Corvidae Wine Company Lenore Syrah Columbia Valley) Aromas of boysenberry, smoke, and blueberry syrup. The palate is distinctly grapey with a somewhat sweet finish.
