  • A big night with a vertical tasting of 6 Caymus Napa Cabs.
1993 - Brown at rim, light in body, nice berry flavor, not much going on and a very shirt finish. Still nice
1997 - Color was good, medium body, more fruit and softer than the 1993.
2003 - A little better than the 1997, full body, round, nice mouth feel, good fruit flavors.
2009 - very enjoyable - full body, fruit and a touch of vanilla at the end. The end lingered for a while. Delicious.
2015 - This was the best, complex, round, drinking perfectly, good finish that lingered for a while. Nice balance of fruit and vanilla bean.
2020 - Good, less complex than the 2015, sweet fruit and vanilla. This could be better in a year. Soft mouth feel, round, delicious.

    Great night!

  • Fantastic Caymus, consistent, rich flavor, deep red comor and settled tannins. Never disappointed!

  • Was a bit curious about this because I am not sure this wine has a great tendency to age and I often drink them fairly young. As most of the other reviews suggest, our bottle was really nice but will not improve at this point. Wine has a medium red brick color at present. Nose is just very slightly stewed - but almost in a pleasant way - with ripe cherry, cinnamon and black current providing a nice backdrop to the substantial oak presence. By now the lack of tannin is giving way to softer secondary elements of dried flower and dark chocolate. Very reliable and always a crowdpleaser, however my guess is that in 5 yrs it will merit a sub-90 score.
