Very interesting nose—somewhat earthy, somewhat vegetative, maybe something like cut grass. Fairly delicate on the tip of the tongue. Some cherry/berry flavors. Nice firm acid. Very tame tannins. My feeling is that this is not a long-ager. A good wine now, but no need to allocate storage space for this one.

Pepper and cigar box on the nose & palate. Fruits develop over time from tart cherries and bramble with firm tannins to a more silky mouthfeel with blackberry , herbs and caramel.

The Rhone Rangers (City Winery, 155 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013): The nose showed red berries, tart blackberry, citrus and herbs. On the palate, it was silky with rich, spicy fruits that turned tart as the wine’s acidity penetrated the senses. The textural contrasts on the palate made this even more enjoyable and resulted in a long, palate-coating finish.

Pure, ripe fruit with savory notes on the nose. Ripe blueberries with tart black fruit in the mouth. Black pepper and a hint of beef jerky. Very nice, balanced structure carries the fruit through the finish.
