Very good but felt a little bit closed down. The body is dense and meaty, but is not as expressive and I was missing a bit more acidity. Give it time and it will come around. I’d wait 5-7 before pulling the cork again.
Opened 6 hours before dinner and poured from the bottle. Paired with filet mignon and garlic butter seared scallops. The bottle was singing from the first glass. Claret in color with currant and cedar on the nose. Even though it’s relatively young, the wine is harmoniously integrated. Blueberries and lively fruits on the front end with a 30sec finish that ends with subtle and pleasant cigar box and leather notes. The tannins are still there but not overwhelming. Laughable that this is still classified as a 5th growth Bordeaux.
Mahogany edged dark cored wine. The bouquet is open with blueberries, dark cherries, blackcurrant, dark plum, blackberries, lemon grass and cafe au lait. Youthful, no hint of age. The empty glass smells of cigar box. It has an extroverted masculine nature which it shares with its neighbour Mouton Rothschild. Slightly flabby, lacking in acid, but full bodied, balanced and with great length. Firm tannins. Reminds me of the 2016. I prefer the 2009 despite its recent shutdown because it has a firmer structure. Riedel Bordeaux glasses. Drunk at 15 deg C. Best after one hour. Estimated drinking window 2030-2070.

This wine has decades of future ahead of itself, which is why only the 95. This took several hours in the decanter to open up. The wine is incredibly dark in color. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, flint, black currant (cassis) and blackberry. There is still so much fruit in the beginning that makes way to forest floor and lead pencil. The finish is medium in length due to it's youth. I can't wait to open another one in 5-10 years.
This is really a stunner. Dark fruits, spicy sweetness, fullness and a very long finish - everything you want in an almost perfect smooth combination. The tannins are very fine but present, the wine is very approachable but will improve with age.
