After 2 in decanter: Medium purplish color with slight bricking at rim. Very ripe (and extremely heady) nose of black fruits. This is full bodied and quite tannic. This is pretty disjointed, all over the place. So hot, rough texture. After 5 hours: Slightly cooler, this is no longer showing so much ethanol heat. it is more focused but still lacks what makes great CdPs great. Good stuff. Hopefully this is in an awkward phase, so give it a year or 2. 90?

Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Fantastic nose of red fruits, roasted herbs, garrigue and anise. Medium body with strong acidity. Exceptional balance. Tons of finesse. Kirsch, plums, leather and some pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. The base CdP at Clost Saint Jean and this version is just a beauty. Best over the next 2-4 years.

Crimson in color 14.5% ABV. Awesome nose of red fruits, wet pavement, roasted herbs and flowers. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Concentrated, rich and classy. Kirsch, raspberry liqueur, plums and pepper on the palate. The finish is long with substantial tannins. Stunning now with the potential to improve further over the next several years. Terrific CdP from a great vintage. I can only imagine how good the Deus-Ex Machina must be. Best over the next 3-5 years.

Decanted for about an hour. Could’ve benefited from more air. Big, rich flavors. Drinking great right now.

Opened for two hours before consuming. Red fruit, spice, and raspberry on the nose and palate. Short finish.
