This pinot noir from probably the smallest AVA in the US, Cole Ranch, was a stellar performer at a dinner party. Great nose and friendly acidic finish made it a good pairing with the rosemary whole duckling main. It's nice to have a pinor noir from California that's not over extracted. These wines have a lot in common with Anderson Valley pinots, just a short distance away. To me, these pinots blend the best of styles from Willamette Valley and Russian River valley.

To update our 2012 review: The Esterlina has aged nicely and we paired it with a pork roast and balsamic cherry sauce. Well balanced between red cherry fruit, a bit of earthiness and a nice residual acidity. Short finish, but definitely cleanses the palate. I'm not sure how much longer I'd hold it at this point. Enjoy!

Black cherry, raspberry, hint of cola. Lift from the acidity comes in at just the right time, soft but noticeable tannins, medium length finish. Oak in evidence but not overdone.

Needed an hour or so in the bottle after opening to blossom but was a fantastic new world pinot noir after that.
