Hints of forest floor and earth on the somewhat subdued nose, this has a solid dark berry fruit that is a nice foil for the surprisingly focused tannins. A concentrated wine. Not a long finish but one that has character and panache. Perfect with grilled tuna. Better as it opens after 90 minutes suggesting it will hold for a bit. I wonder if the fruit will hold beyond 3-5 years.

Dense with dark red fruit. Chocolate and moccha - the large share of Merlot is showing. You need to drink this one cool, almost cold to keep it from mildly nauseating. All this in my opinion of course, being not much of a Merlot-guy. Maybe advisable to keep it in the cellar for 5 more years.

Nose of red fruit, oak, cedar, and licorice, 11 years later it has more cherry, and currant flavors showing, same on the palate, medium/big body, silky, fruit forward tonight, lovely, rich fruit, smooth, very tasty, and delicious on the mid palate, secondary flavors developing nicely, lovely long finish and pleasant aftertaste.

90 minute decant. Nose of currants (mostly red but some black) and Chambord liqueur. Silky, full-bodied palate of black cherry, black currants, and milk chocolate. Graphite, dark cherry, and hot asphalt on the finish with fully resolved, gentle tannins and black plum and cast iron showing on the finale.

Now that I feel that I need to speed drink my way through the remaining bottles, I opened another and have new words to describe it as me and my drinking partner took it apart last night. This has a very aged Super Tuscan vibe to it. It almost behaves and tastes like a Sangiovese/Merlot/Cabernet blend. The meatyness that we get at the first taste followed by lots of acidity and lift, allowing it to accompany food nicely. Again, it lacks freshness and development. DRINK
