  • 8,5% alcohol.

Luminous and quite concentrated neon yellow-green color. Nicely developed and somewhat tertiary nose with rather cool aromas of bruised apples, some lemon marmalade, a little bit of perfumed floral tones, a little bit of dried apricot and pineapple, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of apple jam. The wine is sweet, lively and surprisingly light on its feet with racy flavors of steely minerality, lemon-driven citrus fruits, some fresh red apples, a little bit of beeswax, a hint of orange marmalade and a touch of sugared pomelo wedges. The high acidity keeps the wine wonderfully bright and fresh, offsetting the sweetness nicely, yet the residual sugar lends lovely intensity, richness and sense of fullness to the mouthfeel. The finish is crisp, racy and acid-driven with sweet yet tangy flavors of lemony citrus fruits, Granny Smith apple, steely minerality, some citrus marmalade tones and a hint of candied ginger.

A wonderfully fresh, lean and racy Auslese that is very intense and acid-driven yet noticeably sweet and super-rich at the same time. The wine is starting to show some sense of development - especially in the nose - but overall the wine is still very youthful and far away from its peak. Drinking wonderfully right now, but has still a lot of potential for further development. Lovely.

  • Outstanding wine but to this taster, a shadow of it's former self of 9-10 years ago! Back then it was pure perfection of young, sweet riesling. Today it has lost intensity and gained petrol notes. Great wine still but leaves me completely unmoved - as opposed to back then.
