  • Very good. Held since release, this savory-accented, medium bodied wine would make a great ringer for Burgundy. The sense of place is somewhat relentless (in the best of ways), with a light patina of VA all throughout night one, and to a lesser extent on night two. There's an edge of black tea, freshly tilled black soil, and cranberry notes that remain dominant throughout. Yes, it's fully mature, but I'm not sure this is done developing. Cerebral and deeply enjoyable as an elegant expression of site and grape. Those in search of gobs of fruit will be greatly disappointed. A touch more complete on day two. 14,0% abv., natural cork. recommended

  • Mineral, floral, and earthy nose with tones of leather, herbs, cherry. Soft yet tannic on the palate. Reminiscent of a rustic Burgundy or a Grand Cruller Beaujolais.

  • La Pergola, Rome. Nerelio Mascalese grapes. Near Mt Etna. 130 year old vines planted sporadically near the actual lava flows. A seriously nice, soft taninic red with Pinot Noir elements and a relatively short finish. Lacks roundness and sophistication of a red Burgundy, but reminiscent nevertheless. Mediterranean terroir, but Burgundy balance and creaminess. No history of old vintages as only 2,000 bottles per year. Definitely can lay down for 10+ years. Everything from A to Z done by hand. No sulfites, filtering or anything modern. Wow!!! Served in a red Burgundy glass that is much smaller than the white glass.

  • Nice bottle but lacked the detail and complexity that I expected, based off the reviews and price point. A few more years bottle age will help but I can't see this becoming great.
