Decanted for approx. 1 hr. Poured to a medium / dark garnet color. The nose was redolent of red fruit, particularly raspberry. The flavors included some earthiness, a hint of caramel all packaged in a very smooth port. It might be a tad light compared to some, but this was a verrry good port and probably around its peak.

Vinklubben 1983's tasting hos Asger: DnP. Dark red, red rim, 5.5. Reserved sweet spicy bouquet. Very intense rounded palate. Opened up during the evening. Drink now (decanting 4h) or wait

Gruaud Larose Tasting and Dinner (Northbrook, IL): I was so exciting when I thought I heard we were concluding with 1997 Quinta do Noval. Darn, one letter off. Still nice and tasty, even if more sweet than nuanced, so somewhat one dimensional.

Producer and Vintage Comparison (Portvinsklubben 1981): Dense and fruity blackberry. Lots of tannin and acidity but also showing signs of age. Perhaps aging a bit prematurely. Burnt dirt and rubber.
