Bought ca 6 years ago and stored well since. PnP on this occasion - the wine was best on Day 2 and worst in the first two hours of PnP.
It shows a dark ruby colour displaying little age. Nose is cherries and rust. The wine starts in the mouth with nice cool nebbiolo flavours of dark cherry and roses, but it does get a bit darker with iodine, rust and plums. It has moved through some ageing trajectory, while being short (but not too far short) of mature in my view. This is good but not great and will not improve I think. Nice but I think Francesco Rinaldi did much better in 2006 & 2008 either side of this.

Lovely aged Barolo. Ripe plums and licorice. Medium body and medium plus acidity. Nose and taste promises longer legs, but the wine doesn’t quite deliver. Altogether nice wine to company my wife’s birthday dinner.

Purchased recently this worked out at £38 a bottle. For that you get a decent, mature and nicely resolved wine, with plenty of easily recognisable Barolo leitmotifs. Having said that is more towards the pleasurable, than classic, end of the spectrum, which makes it such a useful wine to drink now while you wait on your 2006s and 2008s. While not profound Barolo, it is nevertheless delicious and represents good value for money.

Wonderful. Super approachable already. And I drank from a mag. Great stuff will likely just get better with age.

Excellent choice for our later courses at the French Laundry - good tones of leather and tobacco to go with the cherry and strawberry notes
