From a rather cool and stable cellar. Day 1 report: NOSE: Initially only moderate and modest amounts of earthy notes; dry dusty brown earth and hints of leather, all quite dusty. Very slowly over time (+1H) I would say the nose evolves rather than opens more up. While retaining its earthy, dusty character it becomes darker, deeper, perhaps funkier as well. This might be a rather divisive nose. I, for one, love it. (91-92p) TASTE: The arrival is quite typical of mature nebbiolo from rich years; dry but polished, rounded tannins and sweet plum or cherry fruit at the same time. On the mid palate more of the same plus some earth and dustiness, nice acidity, even juicy freshness. With time (+1h) it improves, becomes sweeter and richer, while still retaining its characteristic Nebbiolo dryness, particularly towards the end. (91-92p) FINISH: Fruity, a bit farm-funky, long aftertaste. (89-90p) OVERALL: Mature but lively. Given good, cool cellaring, this wine should keep and will probably continue to develop over the next 3-5 years (drink by 2028). TOTAL SCORE 91 points.

PnP. Moden nese med tjære, tobakk, bark og svisker. Litt VA. Mørk alderssødme på frukten, nedslipte tanniner. Herlig modning nå! Tørrer dog noe ut i finish, men god til mat.

Decanted 3 hours before drinking. Brick red. Clean and flawless nebbiolo aromas. Quite velvety and delicate on the palate. Maybe not the most concentrated of the single vineyards.

Something up with this. Might be heat damaged? The cork was tight though with a very small soak and no bleeds out the top? Who knows but table consensus was it sucked. Too bad.

2009 Produttori Barbarescos and More with Aldo Vacca (Vintages in Wine Store & il Casale Restaurant, Belmont, MA): Very young and tannic, but opening as it goes. Gorgeous red fruit. A terrific young wine. 94-95 points.
