  • Bottle was slightly past its prime but still a very nice wine.

  • OK, but not what I expected in a Gigondas. Not sure if aging would help; tanins and acidity at times seemed to overpower fruit.

  • I tried this at a tasting on Saturday where the wines were served under double blind conditions. This was my least favorite wine of the 5 reds served at the tasting. I have had the 1998 vintage of this wine in the Fall of 2002 and gave it a score of 89-90. It was quite nice but in need of additional aging. Unfortunately, I did not buy any of the 2000 vintage which was give a score of 94 by WS and was favorably rated by board members. This wine was a deep red color. The nose was so muted that it was almost nonexistant. I noted some tobacco and blackberry. It was medium bodied and tailed off on the finish. It was awfully early for this wine to be closing down so I do not think that is the case. 85-87 points.
