Mature red, some rusty hues. Ripe berries, sweet earth, cherry stone zest, intense and bright. Plummy mixed berries, soft damp earth, plump ripe flavours, super smooth texture, velvety, not the usual tannic beast that BM can be. Good drinking now, no point keeping, seems to have developed quickly these last few years.

Deep red, dense. Bright red cherry intensity, almost candied note, cherry stone zest, some darker herbal spices in the background. Fleshy middle, chalky tannins throughout but not dominating the palate. Attractive fruit flavours, not much complexity, big bones, meets expectations but doesn’t exceed. Has time to develop.

Deep ruby. Dark ripe berries, gentle dark spice. Angular, but still with good depth of dark ripe fruit. Fine chalky tannins. Blueberry sweet, hint of stalky spice.

Just drawn from in-bond (UK) and tasted with lamb cutlets and salad. Really superb, got better and better. Probably needs another 5 years in the cellar. Red fruits, woodland, cooked mushrooms, rhubarb, truffles. really long finish with so, so much more to come. Epic burgundy.
I really enjoy his whites, but thus red was an utter revelation. Not cheap, but Bonnes Mares never is. Among the best Grand Cru?
