Disclaimer: This was the 8 barrel production, not the 5, and since I'm not sure of (any actual) the difference, I chose not to create a new wine in the database.
I think this is a fair representation of what's wrong with Napa Cab projects of late. Really fancy package, wax sealed, heavy bottle, average to slightly-above average fruit quality and high price-tag. At $68, I know I could do a lot better than this, but that's not to say it's a bad wine. Aerated to decanter 1 hour, but it was actually ready to go the minute the cork was pulled. Surprising that it's so approachable now straight from the bottle, this offered up a stunning nose of red currants, potpourri, baking spices, blah, blah, blah, but ultimately the very fine nose was betrayed by a mediocre experience on the palate. The back of the bottle says the fruit is sourced from " steep slopes and hillsides of the Napa Valley", that's a bit too fluffy for me, but at least it's consistent with my experience with what's in the bottle. Less fluff, more work in the vineyards, fellas. The aromatics alone keep it from falling under an 87 point score, but this doesn't have the structure that so many well-made 08's in this price range do, so drink sooner than later. 14,9% abv.

Brick magenta color, dark. Perfumed nose. Doesn't taste like berries across the midpalate, finishes slightly sweet, syrupy, which is offputting. Very soft tannins. Shocked this costs so much.

Better than my last tasting but just not what I was hoping for when I bought it. Wait and see with the last bottle.

Well made but either too early or just not worth 60 bucks. Stick with mountain wines only. The rest is fine but who wants fine? Try in 2 years min.
