Still very much alive, ready to drink with a couple years likely left. Dried herbs, dark fruit, a touch of creme de cassis, and a bit of milk chocolate on the finish.

Super Bowl (Chicago, IL): Nose: The nose is rich and balanced with black cherries, raspberries, peppery notes, licorice, liqueur tones, violets, and some olive paste. The nose is forward with a fun mixture of savory/peppery notes emerging, but it lacks some depth.
Taste: The feel is Full bodied with crisp, medium acidity and resolved, medium tannins. The feel is dense and rich with black cherries, raspberries, licorice, liqueur tones, violets, and black pepper notes. This does lack some depth and the alcohol has a bit of sting on the back end.
Overall: This seems to be starting a slower decline but is still quite enjoyable. The more peppery and savory aromas have emerged but without the depth that would really make it wonderful. This really should be drunk over the next few years to get the most enjoyment out of it.

I believe this was 85% whole cluster and the first vintage co-fermented with Viognier. I drank this over the course of five days and it evolved each day with added nuances. This has probably been my favorite Shane syrah to date.

Drinking well, dark fruit, leather, meat, integrated tannins. Will keep for a few more years.
