  • Color/App: medium-deep ruby core -> diffuse garnet rim; medium + viscosity. Quite the lovely, masculine bouquet of black cherries, sous bois, mushrooms and figs and earth. Big, sturdy palate showing off currants and cherries (again), beetroot and bramble within a structured framework. Rustic and old world for sure, showing a nice spine of acidity and minerality. While I like it, it does seem far more Gevrey than Chambolle. A mix of Les Sentiers, Les Chabiots and Les Chatelots. Perfect for drinking now and -- given the structure -- probably quite a few more years.

  • Good-very good. Lots of concentration and dark red fruit, minerality, earth and enough length to push this into re-buy territory. Almost Gevrey-like in some ways. 2005 really shines here, and while this might improve and soften up over the next 3 years, it's really in good form now. Good value

  • The nose took a while to open up, but once it did, it came across as very Chambolle with aromas of dark red fruit and rocks with hints of spice. The palate is rich and concentrated and ripe. A nice mineral streak is present as well. Surprisingly almost surmature but not over the top. This should improve and soften up over the next 3-5 years but is drinking well now, if not a bit dense at present.

  • Almost confectionary at first with warm (not hot), inviting aromatics of deep, dark raspberry and black cherry with a touch of new oak. Floaty, elegant nose of baking spice, purple flowers, red currant, frambroise and a hint of strawberry. Bright and juicy yet very rich and well balanced on the palate with lacy textured flavors married to fresh acidity. Just showing the barest hint of tertiary flavors at present with some underbrush shadings in the background. Lovely.
