Bright red, youthful concentration. The bouquet is forward and open, dominated by red fruits and leafy, savory tones. Some oak evident. In the mouth, the wine is full bodied yet quite delicate, with crunchy red fruits and good acidity. Decently long aftertaste with herbs and oak bidding the farewell.
I was completely perplexed by this wine--- no hints given by the label as to the content. A bit like tasting Pinotage for the first time. In the end I managed to pin down the Merlot but I couldn't identify the Pinot Noir blind. (I phoned the producer and apparently this is a 50/50 blend, "Patagonian Cut"). Interesting and very good value. I have to say that Neuquén offers quite unique varietal characteristics. Drink now - 2013.
