More than seven years out since the last note on this wine, I feel like I have a bit of free reign to wax poetically. While I am not quite sure how poetic I might be, this wine is certainly enticing: subtle fruit, earth, anise on the nose, with tartness, slightly stewed fruit, and forest floor on the palate. Delightful. 2003 was a difficult year for most of France (intense heatwave), but this Grand Cru seems to have suffered far less than others. thedrunkencyclist.com

This is my second bottle of this. Great nose of strawberry cotton candy and licorice. The taste is nice and minty, with fresh cherry and spicy clove; a little watery but still good. The finish is racy with more minty clove. I got a wicked hangover from this wine last time. Hopefully it was a circumstantial thing and not a sulfate/chemical thing.

4th bottle I've had, seemed not so tannic as the others; perhaps it's that I already discounted its tannincy. In any case, oh-so-good, perhaps the best-looking wine, not opaque but divinely translucent, garnet - orange - brown - lavender - violet, liquid sunset in a bottle. Bought 6 bottles 5 months ago - they'll never see their "proper" age here. Maybe one of those last bottles will at least get to breathe for a while.

As below - tonight I truly craved a tannic though smooth wine, and this one, popped and poured, hit the spot perfectly. Right away in the glass, it smells and tastes tannic, and, that said - tonight the wine was served nicely cool, right at 54 degrees Fahrenheit, and it's beautiful.

Slightly oxidized on the nose. Ripe red fruit and solid acidity on the palate. Pure cherry on the soft finish.
