  • Paolo (Enrico) Scavino is a modern producer. His wines have been awarded the coveted 3 glass award about 15 times by Gambero Rosso. At first glance you can see immediately that this wine will be modern in style by the intense, ink-like red color it has. On the nose there is some leather present, dark berries (blackberries, dark cherries). You can smell and feel the alcohol (reaching 13.5%). On the palate this wine is huge like you would expect from a modern producer. Large amounts of dark fruit (again Cherries and blackberries) are immediately evident and the flavors (hence acidity) seem to linger forever. The tannins are soft and well-integrated. The alcohol creates a bit of warmth in the mouth. This is a bit more modern than what I normally like, but I think if you lay it down for about 3-5 years, the fruit will soften a bit and become a bit more elegant.
