PNP. this has dark crimson color that does not belie it's age. Nose reminiscent of cabernet. There is dark fruit, leather and wood in there. Swishing this shows the tannin structure to be still present, but the edges are softer than expected and this has great balance. Sipping shows the dense fruit balancing this structure, and this comes off quite nicely. My first experience with vidadillo. not my go-to style, but for a big bruising heavyweight of a wine this is well done. i see this continuing to evolve for a while, given that this seems quite youthful now. Begs for some fatty red meat (think braised shortribs)

Waiting four years made a huge difference-- this is a very enjoyable wine, not just an interesting, well-made detour, and should be added to more restaurant ists for a fair-priced option. The "ancient grape" is indeed different--a syrah with less pepper and complexity but more spice. With the almost 10 years, this wine developed a smoother course, with deep, dark blood red color, a nose of dark cherry, pine needle hints, animal notes and wild forest. The palate pretty much follows the nose, with more well- grounded cherry, moist earth and that spicy undertone that makes it so enjoyable with foods with sauce or pizza. Worth buying. And decant for an hour. Really a 90+

Brought to our dinner party last night by my brother-in-law.
Previous attempts at this wine had revealed it as excessively tannic. After waiting some time, we tried it on 1/10/2016 and found it delightful, with great purity and depth of fruit underneath the now-tamed tannins. The wine has finally lived up to its billing, flavorful and very distinctive. I wish I had waited until now to try mine. This experience serves as yet another reminder that Spanish reds generally need a long sleep in the cellar to show themselves to best effect.

Not sure if it hasn't opened yet or is past its prime. Next bottle will tell.

Still needs time to open up. But nice red fruit. Pleasant.
