Terry Theise Estate Selections

(Merkelbach Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett #7 #8) ($17.00) A blend of fuders #7 and #8. The ‘08s here are racy and lighter than ‘07 was, but they have way more than enough fruit and more acidity than 07 did, for them as likes ‘em better that way. #7 was a crunchy old-school Mosel, entirely delightful in its rural honesty. #8 has more polish. The blend is perfect, articulate slate over cool granular apples. I want to fall to my knees in gratitude for the honesty of this wine – Mosel as a wine of the country, without “polish,” purely itself.
