  • A very good Bordeaux blend, tasty red fruit with med/med+ acidity and a refreshing finish. Drink up. Had a bit of effervescence which subtracted a point or two...

  • Had this wine (and a few more wines that were twice as expensive) with a friend while watching and hoping that UD would upset Florida. That didn't happen, but this wine did create an upset at our tasting table. Coming in non-chalantly at around $19, this wine was the favorite of the evening, making all of us scratch our heads and wonder why we don't have this wine as a house red. I mean, the nose is tart and red-fruited, with complexity from earthy and rock-laden aromas that make me start to ponder...then I take a sip, and find a med bodied wine of perfect balance, with great med+ acidity, nice tart fruit that in no way competes with the food we were eating, and silky med-intensity tannins that are nicely ready to drink. The finish is med length and simply does what it should do...repeats the deliciousness from the palate.
Not sure this wine will improve with further aging, but really, that is SO not what his wine is about. It will drink perfectly through 2017 or so, but I'd hesitate to wait, since it is so delicious now. One of my all-time favorite QPR's and delicious finds from Garagiste.

  • Med intensity aromas of tart plum, charcoal, orange zest, cassis.
Med in body and alcohol. Med intensity flavors repeat from the nose, with distinct smoky minerality and a slight spice. Nicely complex and well balanced, showing med(+) acidity, med(-) tannins that are rounded and supple, med length finish of tart plum.
A delicious, drinkable, not-overly-ripened, not-overly-oaked, Bordeaux! Drinks well now, and although not likely to improve alot in bottle, should continue to drink well through 2016.

  • Opened and drank a few glasses on the first night. Wine was corked and put back in cellar. Tasting note from 2 days later.
This wine is clear, and has a med/pale ruby color, fading to a light/watery rim.
On the nose, the wine is in good condition, with youthful, medium intensity aromas of red cherries, wet gravel, and an almost citrus-like quality that I sometimes find in these "natural" wines.
On the palate, this is a dry wine, showing med body, and med alcohol (listed 13.5% on label), with med intensity flavors of bright red cherry, plum, orange zest, and cola, showing off medium level, rounded tannins, and a med(+) acidity that makes this wine very fresh and cleansing. The wine's finish is medium length, full of red fruit and rocks.
The wine comes across just a bit hot on the palate today, but the higher than expected acidity is quite refreshing, and the wine is really quite enjoyable and light on its feet for a Bordeaux. Good quality wine, drinking well now, and for the next 3 years or so, although not a wine intended to benefit from aging.

  • I am certainly changing my thoughts about how good $20 bottles of Bordeaux can be, having been on a good winning streak. Here is another providing taste, complexity and depth well beyond its price range. Medium bodied, with a nice dark violet hue, it has a young, classic Bordeaux nose and is awash with fresh fruit flavors, along with wood spice. It has a decent finish and gets better with 24 hours of air time. A bit too much 'band-aid' on the nose initially, but that blew off after some hours. Highly recommended for the price.
