  • Tasting Riesling at Jos. Christoffel Jr. (Ürzig, Germany): AP #4: The nose is deep and full. Complex apples are in the forefront, showing characteristics of both fresh and baked fruit. Lime scents work their way in with the apples, and a suggestion of minerality is in the background. The lime flavored acidity is bright enough to deliver a spritzy feeling on entry. Apples flavors roll in quickly, becoming bright as they blend with the limes. Minerality shows fully on the mid palate as the acid grows and grows. It's fully dry on the finish, and the apple flavors linter long on the sides and back of the tongue. Way out on the finish, the fruit continues to evolve with excellent depth. I get a bit of pie crust very late. Lovely length and complexity! 94+
