  • Reifes Rubinrot. Warm anmutende Nase, Pflaumenkompott, Schwarkirschen, Trockenfrüchte, Datteln, Rosinen.

  • Amazing wine. A mixed profile between a richer stone fruit that you would see in an amarone and fresher red fruit more typical of a Rhône Syrah. Still thinking about this wine a few days later!

  • A hot vintage and thus some over ripe jammy fruit not at all characteristic of Chave. Still lots of complexity with roasted meats, savory spices and suggestion of li9corice on the finish. Balanced with full long finale. Wait 6 years before trying another.

  • umm. the odd ball in the Chave flight. Not bad, just odd. The 2000 and 2007 were clearly Northern Rhone Syrah. This one? The color was ruby like the others but more saturated. The best way to describe the nose is wild: blackberry jam, some supporting minerals but a bit amped up. It's not overripe but it's not far away from the ledge. The palate is big, yet the purity of the fruit is admirable for the vintage. Big, silky and powerful. Spice shows up on the finish. Super wine, if not classic. I feel that's OK - Chave takes what the vintage offers versus trying to fit in a mold. Don't want to drink this all the time but I like it. (95)

93 pts en l’état, probablement 95++ à long terme.
